Set during the sixth year at Hogwarts, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince explores, Lord Voldemort’s past and Harry’s preparation for the final battle. Amidst the tension of the Death Eaters, Hogwarts is occupied dealing with the emerging romantic relationships and the emotional confusion and conflicts resolutions characteristic of the teenage years.

Invigorated by the return of Voldemort, the Death Eaters are creating havoc in the wizard world leaving Hogwarts unsafe. Harry is sure that the new danger is within the castle, but Dumbledore has different plans. He is more intent on preparing Harry for the final battle which he knows is soon approaching. Professor Dumbledore needs Harry to help him uncover a vital key that will unlock Voldermort’s defenses. The only person who has this critical information is, Hogwarts’ former Portions Professor, Horace Slughorn. Knowing this information, Dumbledore manipulates his old colleague into returning to Hogwarts with the bait of being able to teach the famous Harry Potter.

Meanwhile, the students are being attacked by yet another issue. Teenage hormones are raging across the rampart. Harry’s friendship with Ginny is turning into something deeper, but Ginny’s boyfriend Dean Thomas and brother, Ron, appear to be a road block. Ron however, is entangled with his own romantic worries with Lavender Brown lavishing her affection on him, which leaves Hermione boiling with jealously, yet determined not to reveal her feelings to him. And, if this was not enough, there is a box of love-portion laced-chocolate which ends up in the wrong hands and changes everything.

As romance blossoms in Hogwarts, one student is busy dealing with far more important matters in his mind, keeping himself aloof to the rest. A dark plan is on his mind. Love is all around, but with tragedy fast approaching, Hogwarts may never remain the same again.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, dives into hormones and danger. It gives us many parts to look forward to-comedy, romance, suspense and good versus bad. This movie offers a lot more humor than any of the previous Potter films. Director David Yates and screenplay writer Steve Kloves have done a fantastic job complimenting the book and made sure that it captures the key tone of, “something bad is coming, it’s now the time to grow up.”

Released by Warner Bros. Pictures, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is rated PG for scary images, a bit of violence and mild sensuality. The movie is a must watch for all Potter fans and non-Potter fans. I however, liked the first Potter series the best, but still, this is a good watch.
